If you asked me a few months ago where I’d be today, I probably would’ve smiled and said something about still dreaming, still hoping, still figuring things out. I never imagined I’d be here—boldly stepping into a new chapter, launching my own photography business, and finally saying yes to something that had been quietly stirring in my heart for years.
Chellissa Jean Photography wasn’t built overnight. It was born through prayer, faith, encouragement from people who believed in me, and a longing to create something meaningful. I’ve always loved capturing moments—those in-between glances, the messy laughter, the fleeting expressions that often go unnoticed. But for a long time, I tucked that dream away. Life was busy, and self-doubt had a louder voice than my purpose.
But then something shifted. I looked at my own children, growing faster than I was ready for, and realized just how quickly time moves. I started picking up my camera more. I started seeing light differently. And slowly, I started believing that maybe, just maybe, this gift was meant to be shared—not just with my own family, but with others too.
Starting this business has been scary and beautiful all at once. It’s meant late nights learning editing software, early mornings location scouting, and asking a lot of “what ifs” followed by quiet reminders from God saying, “I’ve got you.” I’ve had to trust that even in the small beginnings, there is purpose.
Behind every session I photograph, there is a story. Maybe it's a graduating senior full of excitement and nerves for the next chapter. Maybe it’s a mama who hasn’t been in front of the camera since her babies were born. Maybe it’s a family simply wanting to freeze this season before it slips away. Whatever it is, I show up with my whole heart—because I know what it’s like to want to hold onto a moment just a little longer.

There’s something truly sacred about photographing a newborn.
The room is still. The light is soft. And right there, wrapped in warmth and love, is a brand-new life—tiny fingers, sleepy eyes, and the softest sighs. Every newborn session I do is a reminder that this work is about so much more than just taking pictures. It’s about preserving one of life’s most fleeting and holy moments.
As a photographer, stepping behind the lens during a newborn shoot is stepping into a bubble of time that passes far too quickly. The newborn days are a blur for most parents—diapers, feedings, sleepy snuggles. That’s why I approach each session with care, patience, and gentleness. I want to help freeze this season in a way that brings tears to your eyes later, in the best possible way.
Each session begins slowly. There’s no pressure, no rush. I create a calm, cozy environment—whether I’m coming to your home or meeting you in a studio space. I use soft wraps and minimal props because the focus should always be on your baby and the love surrounding them. There’s a beauty in simplicity.
The real magic, though, isn’t in the posing—it’s in the moments that happen in between.
The way a mama brushes her baby’s hair back and whispers something only they can hear.
The way a dad cradles his newborn, with hands so strong but eyes so soft.
The sleepy stretches. The tiny yawns. The way your baby melts into your chest like they’ve always known they belong there.
That’s what I’m looking to capture.
Behind the scenes, I watch for natural light, use gentle guidance for poses, and prioritize your baby’s comfort and safety above all else. If we need to pause so baby can eat or be held, we pause. If your toddler wants to run through the frame mid-shot—sometimes that becomes one of the most precious photos of all. I believe the best moments aren’t always the ones we plan.
These sessions are personal for me. As a mama myself, I know how fast the newborn season slips through your fingers. I know how your heart feels like it might burst with love and exhaustion at the same time. I also know that in a few short months, your baby will look completely different—and you’ll treasure every little detail you saved in photos.
These aren’t just pictures. They’re pieces of your story. And I’m honored every time a family trusts me to tell it.
